As we are approaching the 150th year since the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Act put protections in place to preserve Wimbledon Common, we would like to ask for help to recover grassland that we have lost over the last year due to unfavourable weather and a large increase in footfall. The golf course takes up less than 10% of the common and both London Scottish and Wimbledon Common Golf Club contribute almost £300,000 each year to play golf but unfortunately we weren’t able to prevent significant damage in the last year to our fairways, tees, and greens.
