On the 9th September, LSGC travel down to Royal North Devon Golf Club in Westward Ho! to play our historic, annual match as the second and third oldest golf clubs in England. This is a two day match with 16 players from each club battling it out in the same way that members have done since 1876. The trophy, made by Royal North Devon member, Graham Bowden, is from a piece of driftwood and a porthole retrieved from ship that had run aground in Bideford Bay!
The format for the match has varied over the years but now exists as two fourball better-ball matches on Saturday and Sunday so is set up for (very) social golf with a hint of competitiveness, depending on who you're playing!
Good luck to all who have been picked to play for LSGC - lets bring home the trophy!
